You Give Hope to Haiti! In Mark’s August Letter learn more about in the midst of the violence in Haiti, over a thousand schools have remained closed all year.
However, Star of Hope’s schools are still open, welcoming every single child with open arms.
It is all thanks to you! We’re so lucky to have you.
In this post, I call “Letter August” you can learn about our schools serving as safe havens in a lawless country torn between hope and despair. Although the first United Nations troops arrived in May, the capital remains under the control of gangs and criminals.
As a result, food prices have skyrocketed—rice is up by 41%, corn by 50%, and fish by 60% in just one year. In America, such increases would lead to complaints or worse; in Haiti, they lead to malnutrition.
“No one escapes the devastating effects of lawlessness,” says our field manager, Tony. “But every time I visit our schools, I am uplifted by the children’s joy!”
Tony has shared pictures showing daily life in our schools: lunches, playtime, learning, and happiness. This is what we are fighting for, together with you, to let children be children!
Our schools are more than just places of learning—they are lifelines. Especially during these times of crisis, providing food is crucial. It pains me that due to soaring prices, we’ve had to reduce meals to four a week. We should be providing more food, not less!
That’s why I’m asking for your help: Join us in feeding our schoolchildren!
Your regular contributions ensure that every gift is used where it is most needed. You help children quench their thirst, satisfy their hunger, stay healthy, and attend school daily. In times of crisis, your support allows us to respond immediately.
By sponsoring a child, you ensure they receive food, water, and education. Through My Pages, you’ll receive updates and personal greetings from your sponsored child.
Your contribution will meet the children’s most urgent needs. During wars and natural disasters in our aid countries, affected children are prioritized. In calmer times, your gift helps them stay nourished, healthy, and in school.
Our gift certificates make thoughtful presents for special occasions such as Christmas, weddings, and Mother’s Day.
6. Keep Us in Mind
Many people request memorial gifts for our work, while others include us in their wills. This kind gesture leaves a lasting legacy that fosters new life and hope.
7. Pray for the children
Use the power of prayer and pray for their safety and that they have food to eat. Also pray they will hear the Gospel with new ears.
Lunch Buddy program? You betcha! We haven’t forgotten!
For just 5 dollars a month, you can ensure that a child gets enough to eat every school day. For many of these children, the school lunch is the only real meal they receive, making your contribution vital in protecting them from malnutrition. Join us and make a difference in a child’s life!
